How can I join Tester Work?

You have to register your email using this form, then follow these steps on our platform:

1. Fill in your personal details, testing experience and the device(s) you can use to test.

2. Take an online assessment which will help us assess your QA skills and English proficiency (you have two attempts to pass the test).

What does the onboarding process look like?

Our onboarding process is split into 2 parts: registration and online assessment.

1. The registration has three steps which you will follow right after you have signed up: account settings (personal details), testing settings (experience, availability, language) and the hardware & software you can use to test.

2. Online assessment: this will test your knowledge and understanding of QA testing as well as your quality of written English.

Assessment advice:

Before you start answering questions, you will be presented with the notions page. It is imperative to read the page thoroughly since this will help you answer the assessment questions.

If you have passed the first assessment, you will become one of our verified testers and your details will be added to our database. If you have failed the first assessment, you will be given another chance to complete a follow-up assessment.

How long does it take to complete the onboarding?

In less than 15 minutes you will be all set. Sign up or login and follow the steps.

If you don’t want to complete all the onboarding steps at once, you can save your progress and come back to it when you’re ready.

What happens if I fail the assessment?

If you have failed the first assessment, you will be given another chance to complete a follow-up assessment.

Before you start answering questions on the second test, you will once again be presented with the notions page. It is imperative to read the page thoroughly since this will help you answer the assessment questions.

If you failed the test twice then you will not be invited to our regular test cycles.

What happens after I pass the assessment?

You will receive an email with additional details so you can start testing.

We will then email you whenever a new project is available for you – we start new test cycles every day. We send invitations based on the devices you have and the information included in your profile. Get in the habit of checking emails daily and applying to new projects.

When can I start testing?

You can start testing as soon as you have received an email about a new project.

Simply register for the test – though make sure that you fulfill the testing criteria first (you will find more details in the invitation email).

From then on, you should receive emails about our new testing projects, so it is important to keep an eye on your inbox. Please also check your spam folder.

If you are a newly onboarded tester and have not heard from us for over a week, please send us a message on our support center.

Can I update my tester profile?

Yes, you can update your profile at any time by logging in to Tester Work.

If you have bought new devices or moved to another city, please update your details to ensure that you are invited to the most relevant projects for you.

If you decide to update your preferred payment method, please note that this will only take effect after current test projects have been closed.

Testing on projects
What time zone is used as start and end date in the test cycle invitation?

We always use GMT+2 when we add a date and time in Tester Work emails. Exploratory test cycle and test case execution invitations have a start hour (GMT+2) and end hour (GMT+2).

Do I have to work during UK working hours?

Not at all. All projects have a fixed start and end date and you are free to work any time during the period allocated to the test (usually 48 hours). The actual times of testing do not matter.

I have a question regarding the testing work, what can I do?

A Tester Work team member will respond to the issue within the next 12 hours and you will receive an alert via email when this happens.

What is the difference between Functional Test Case and Functional Exploratory test cycle?

A functional test case is a test performed by following specific test scripts and/or functional specifications. These specifications might include everything from integrations, user screens, user commands and data manipulations.

Functional exploratory is a test performed without following specific test scripts. Explore the app based on your own experience and background in testing.

When will I receive my payout?

You will receive your payout in approximately two weeks (12 – 14 days) after the test cycle has finished.

In case your payment is lower then the general payout threshold ($5), the transfer will be managed together with the following payout items, once the threshold is reached.

How will I be paid?

Currently, payment can be made through either PayPal or via an Upwork contract.

Further payment methods may be made available at a later date.

How much will I get paid?

The amount is always clearly displayed in the test invitation you will receive by email. You will either be paid per bug found or fixed amount for test case execution.

I don't have a PayPal account, what should I do?
